Origin & Appearance
The Dypsis lutescens, better known as the gold fruit palm or areca palm, comes from the tropical regions of Madagascar. In its natural environment it can reach heights of up to 10 meters, while as a houseplant it usually grows to between 1.5 and 2 meters.
The golden fruit palm is characterized by its arched, overhanging fronds, which consist of numerous, narrow, feathery leaves. The multi-stemmed growth form with its golden-yellow leaf stalks gives it a particularly elegant and airy appearance. This plant immediately brings holiday flair to any room.
care instructions
▪ Light: Loves bright, indirect light – but also tolerates partially shaded locations. Avoid direct midday sun.
▪ Water: Water regularly, but avoid waterlogging. The substrate should always be slightly moist.
▪ Temperature: 18–25 °C is optimal, temperatures below 12 °C are not good for it.
▪ Humidity: High humidity is preferred – regular spraying of the fronds promotes the health of the plant.
▪ Fertilization: During the growth phase (spring to autumn), provide liquid fertilizer every two weeks.
